Rain and Coffee

You look like
Rain and coffee
Bittersweet and mellow
Petrichor of forgotten days
And that subtle dash of sugar

Your laughter
Ricochets through
Broken sunshine
Lighting up places
Where my demons hide

Your scent
Ebullient
Like a thousand lilies
Singing a song of bygone love
And crushed peppers
Of never met tomorrows

Your tears
Rusted locks
Keys lost in mèle
And hopes dashed against
Patched walls

You remind me of
My voice
Before I lost it
Trying to traverse through
Forbidden bylanes
And instead ran down the rabbit hole
Full of strangers
