#Unspoken

I had kept a jar

full of hope and faith

For the day

When you would stop by

And we would begin,

where we had left

Our late night conversations

I kept your favourite

cup of tea, brewing

And a few books

we liked to discuss, bookmarked

The evening light, dimmed

just the way you liked

And a tiny red rose, tucked in my braid

the fragrance, so full of your caress

Instead the night showed up, without you

As I sat, watching the fading sun

Your footsteps, never found their way back to me

And our unspoken words lay bare, bereft of anchors

Forever
